FAQ

How much will this cost me?

You know it actually will not cost you for the lessons or the ball. It might cost you if you have to get dancing shoes, or a ball outfit, or even if you have to hire it from a hire shop. Other than that, it’s free!

Where is the actual ball held?

This depends on how many student ballroom dancers we have. We suit the venue to the size of dancers. We’ve previously held the Etiquette ball in the Defense Club, in the Royal British Legion and the Fiji Club. The annual organisers are tasked with finding a suitable venue every year.

Can I just turn up to the Ball and not do any lessons?

Unfortunately not. The whole point of the Etiquette Ball is to learn how to do social ballroom dancing. You need to have attended a minimum of 8 lessons. Normally between 12-14 lessons are offered.

Where are the lessons held?

This also is organised every year in slightly different place. It’s been held at the Playhouse, and also the Suva Yacht Club.

When and on what day are the lessons held?

They normally take place on weekdays after school. Sometimes it is held on a Saturday afternoon.

My parents don’t believe that this is a real event, they think it’s an excuse for a party.

No problem, MIS the school, offers signed letterheaded paper explaining the Etiquette Ball and it’s purpose. You can also always point them to these pages too ;-)
